I've been a nurse for 30 years, I received my BSN at Fairfield University in Connecticut. I joined the Army Nurse Corps upon graduation in 1993. During my time in the Army, I was priveleged to train in neonatal and pediatric nursing. I've spent the majority of my nursing career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I love what I do! I am passionate about learning more about neonatal care and being able to translate that knowledge into practice to improve outcomes.
In 2021 I earned my Masters in Nursing Education from Western Governors University. I started working full time as a nursing instructor at the School of Nursing at Georgia Southern University in Savannah, GA. I still work in the NICU, and love teaching new students and new nurses about the babies I have such a passion for. I am a second-year PhD student in the College of Nursing at Augusta University in Augusta, GA. I will be focusing my research on Neonatal Neuroinflammation and Neurodevelopment.
In 2022, I was a recipient of the NANN Research Fellow Scholarship, funded by Mead Johnson. Through this Fellowship, I had the honor of working with an expert in the field of diaper dermatitis and neonatal skin care, Dr Media Esser. This collaboration set me on the path to become a neonatal nurse researcher.
