Ravi Mishra, MBBS, MD, FAAP, is NICU Medical Director at a level 3 NICU at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago, IL, under Advocate Health. Dr. Mishra completed his residency in Pediatrics in Brooklyn, NY, and a Neonatology fellowship from Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, Valhalla, NY, in 2002. He has extensive clinical experience working in different healthcare systems and has worked diligently to provide family-centered care, especially in underserved communities. Dr. Mishra is co-perinatal director in Neonatology in the local Administrative Perinatal Network under the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Dr. Mishra's research focuses on translation research in nutrition. In bench research, he worked on food, gut health, and stress response systems in in-vitro studies. Clinically, he is involved in designing and implementing nutritional calculators for infant parenteral and enteral nutrition.
In the late transition of neonatal nutrition from nasogastric to oral intake, Dr. Mishra and Anne Albi, SLP, codesigned the SMART feeding skill assessment tool. Psychometric properties were tested in a multicenter trial. In this abstract, we present the implementation of this tool in our health system.
